Known Issues + Enhancements¶

1. Multiple Document Types for Reports¶

In our first Community Edition release we have made three report templates available in the UI (Audit Report, Baseline Comparison, and Executive Overview). However, the only report format available is Simple XML. It has been requested that we also add functionality for HTML and PDF reports. We are happy to say we have added this feature request to the next community release as this would provide immediate value to the community. In the mean time, the Simple XML report provides ample reporting functionality.

We have heard your feedback and as of the December 4th, 2009 build this functionality has been added to the product. Sweet =)!

2. Discovery License in Community Edition¶

The current Community Edition licensing model includes the ability to scan up to 32 IPs, but does not include a Discovery license. It was not included in the free Community version of the product because it was expected that most users would be scanning a fixed targeted environment where the target IPs were known. However, the use case for a Discovery license is understandable. We are evaluating including a Discovery license in an upcoming release of the Community Edition. In the mean time, the Express, Consultant, and Enterprise edition all have an option for a discovery license.

Note: Based on early feedback from some of you, this (Discovery Capabilities) was the most requested feature for this version. In response to your requests, as of the Metasploit update r7681 you can launch NeXpose scans based on a Metasploit database of discovery results, such as those imported through Nmap, etc. Further details of the update can be found on the Metasploit site at http://www.metasploit.com/redmine/projects/framework/wiki/NeXpose_Plugin#Discovery.

3. Installing in alternate languages¶

If you're running with a language other than US/English, you may run into the following issue during installation:

Switching from any language to US/English will correct this and allow for the installation to complete. After the install feel free to return to your language of choice.
