Product Registration and Licensing FAQ

1. I have registered online with Rapid7, where is my product key?

After you register online you should receive an e-mail with your product key and installation instructions from . If you do not see your product key in your Inbox check your SPAM folder. If it has been 24 hours and you still have not received a product key please reach out to the community mailing list at and someone should be able to help you.

2. Do I need a new product key if I have to reinstall the product?

Unfortunately you will need a new product key when reinstalling the product. To get a new product key, please register again here. We realize that re-registering is not ideal and we are looking at various options for streamlining the new product key generation process for users who have previously registered. Stay tuned.

3. What if my product key does not seem to be working?

Follow the instructions here on manually applying your product key. If the key still does not seem to be taking then send an e-mail to the community mailing list at and someone should be able to help you.

4. Where can I go for real time help regarding my license?

There are usually NeXpose community members lurking in the #IRC channel ( Server: irc.freenode.net, Channel: #rapid7) who can help you. You can also send your question to the community mailing list, .

5. What should I do if I need a second product key?

In order to obtain a second product key you will need to register again here.

6. Can I license the product without an Internet connection (i.e. "offline")?

Currently, you must have an Internet connection and be able to reach updates.rapid7.com in order to license the product. Your license should apply the first time you run the product or if you have licensed the product manually. After your license is installed then you will no longer need to be connected to the Internet to scan or use the product. However, without an Internet connection you will not be able to download product updates.
