Meterpreter-shell alert *beep*

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Rapid7 forums and would like to bother you with a question which may sound silly to some;

- I have a script called beep (/usr/bin/beep) which runs: echo -e "\a"
Now I wrote a multi_console_command .rc script that autopwn's the victim machine;
Now to state the obvious: I want my speaker to alert me with a beep upon popping a shell.

From within the handler I can type beep which executes my script and produces a beep.
From within meterpreter (or while executing my .rc script) it does not.

Is there any work-around that would allow me to execute the local command from within my .rc script running in meterpreter?

Thanks in advance!
