I've tried all sorts of things to get metasploit framework to connect to a database in mac os x Sierra but no such luck / i keep getting this message when i connect to metasploit framework in my mac:

Failed to connect to the database: could not connect to server: Connection refused

Is the server running on host "localhost" (::1) and accepting

    TCP/IP connections on port 5433?

could not connect to server: Connection refused

Is the server running on host "localhost" (fe80::1) and accepting

    TCP/IP connections on port 5433?

could not connect to server: Connection refused

Is the server running on host "localhost" (127.0.0.1) and accepting

    TCP/IP connections on port 5433?

I've tried various commands like "db_connect" and of course checked status of database "db_status" but i don't know what else to do here; help would be greatly appreciated, as i am at a complete loss. thanks.
